Inform Direct makes it easy to form new companies and submit these details to Companies House.

The formation wizard can be used to incorporate very simple companies with just one shareholder and director, right through to more complex companies requiring some of the following:

  • Multiple share classes
  • Non GBP currencies
  • Nil paid; partly paid or fully paid shares
  • Bespoke articles
  • Use of sensitive or restricted names

You can form companies registered in Scotland, Wales, Northern Ireland or England and Wales.

What is the cost of forming a company using Inform Direct?

To get started...

  •  If you are an existing user - click on the grey 'Form New Company' button along the top bar once you have logged into your account.

  • If you do not yet have an Inform Direct account - Start the formation process without being logged in. You can do that here.

Whichever route you choose there are just 5 simple steps. You can also complete part of the process and 'save' your work until you are ready to complete everything.

Note: First check that you have all the required information on hand in order to fill in the application successfully: Your company formation checklist

How do I save a part completed formation?

Step 1

At Step 1 you add the details of the new company. This includes:

  • Checking whether the proposed name is available.

Note: You may reach a block following this stage. If you are met with an anti-money laundering screen instead of the next step (Registered Office) then please see Why am I not able to proceed beyond the company name stage?

  • Providing the Registered Office address.
  • Select your proposed company type, i.e. Limited by Shares and Inform Direct formation package.
  • Completing the Share Capital details.
  • Giving the SIC code of the new company.

Step 2

At Step 2 you add the details of each person (either an individual or a company) who is going to:

  • Act as an officer of the company.
  • Subscribe for shares (i.e. be a shareholder).
  • Be a person of significant control (PSC).

Note: Importantly if someone is going to be an officer and a shareholder and a PSC you will only need to enter their details once. How do I appoint someone as an officer and/or shareholder and/or PSC?

Step 3

At Step 3 you can choose to use:

and select any other required extras such as a company seal.

Note: These are optional extras.

Step 4

At Step 4 you can review all the information you have entered prior to submission. If necessary any of the details can be amended by clicking on the pencil icon. You can also download the information by selecting the link 'Summary' near the top of the screen.

You can also navigate back to earlier steps without losing information you have already entered. This is helpful if you want to add more shareholders etc.

Note: There is also an opportunity to download a copy of all the summary information once the application to form the new company has been submitted. This will be on the final page which confirms the submission has been sent. If you do not generate the summary at step 4, or at this stage, it is not possible to do so in hindsight.

Step 5

At Step 5 you will have completed the earlier 4 steps:

At the end of the wizard all the information required by Companies House including any fees (if applicable) will be sent to them electronically on the IN01 form.

Note: Once formed you will be sent the incorporation documents and the details of the new company will be automatically added to your portfolio.
