It is easy to form a new company using Inform Direct.

Note: At the end of the wizard all the information required by Companies House including the applicable registry fee will be sent to them electronically. You will be able to print a copy of the IN01 for your records.

1. Now that you have chosen a company name, type and formation package, you need to add details about the company.

Note: Every company must have a registered office in the U.K. Where can the registered office be located?

2. Take care when choosing the situation of the registered office. There is a dropdown list of 4 options:

Note: If you select 'England & Wales' then the Registered Office address must be in 'England or Wales' and so forth.

3. You can enter the registered office for the company. For this you can select any one of the following:

  • Your firm's office address, which can be saved under the Account tab.
  • A previously entered address, which allows you to search using the company, name or address of a previously entered record from your portfolio.
  • A new address - a postcode search function is available to help with this.
  • Selection to use one of our partner's prestigious London addresses or, for Scottish companies, their Edinburgh address as your registered office address by selecting the option detailed below.

Note: If you select this option, then you will need to input the address that official mail from Companies House and HMRC will be forwarded to.

You also have the choice whether you use our partner's trading address service from the chosen address. This will mean that all documents sent to the trading address will be forwarded to the address you have entered.

4. The company Registered Email Address is required, this does not show publicly at Companies House but is a required field.

5. Next, you are required to enter the planned business activities SIC code. Start writing a word that best describes the business. Possible options will then start being displayed.

Note: If your company is dormant start typing "dormant," and that option will be presented.

6. Click on the description(s) that best fits the company. You need to click on the suggestion and let Inform Direct populate the field for you. Do not just type the 5 digit number.

Note: If necessary, add further codes. To do this, click on the 'Add further business activity' link.

7. Having added the desired codes, click on 'Continue'.

8. Next, you can add any number of share classes to the company. What share classes can I add?

  • Give a Class description. This is a free text field.
  • Choose a Currency or leave as GBP.
  • Set the Nominal value per share. It defaults to £1.00 or $1.00 or €1.00 depending on the currency chosen.
  • Select the Type of share from the dropdown menu.
  • Add your own Prescribed particulars if the default selection is not wanted.

Note: Companies House only recognises nominal values to six decimal places for electronic filing. Therefore the lowest value you can enter is £0.000001.

If desired, you can add additional share classes. How do I add another share class?

Note: If you are planning for your company to be dormant, please note that Dormant company accounts can not be filed through Inform Direct for companies with more than 5 share classes.

9. When you have finished with all of your share classes, select 'Continue.'
