Your Company Authentication Code (CAC) is a 6 character alphanumeric code provided by Companies House.

When your company was formed a letter like the one below with the specific code for your company will have been sent to the registered office.

Note: You will need this code to complete the Inform Direct set up process. See Why do I need to provide the Authentication Code?

The Authentication Code is a digital authorisation code that allows filings to be made online for a company - it acts as the equivalent of the signature on paper documents.

To take advantage of the online filing, such as Inform Direct software filing, an Authentication Code is required.

For security reasons this letter will only be sent by post to the Registered Office. As part of our service Inform Direct will advise you which address the code will be sent to.

Note: If the Registered Office is no longer accessible e.g. You have moved or the Registered Office was provided by the organisation which formed your company and you are no longer in contact with them then see What if I do not have access to the Registered Office?

If you have forgotten your code or misplaced the letter which contained the code and would like a reminder of the existing code sent to either the Registered Office or a current Officer's home address then please see How do I get a reminder of my Companies House authentication code

Alternatively, if you know the code, but need to change it then please see How Do I Change or Cancel my Authentication Code?
