Your Company Authentication Code (CAC) is a 6 character alphanumeric code provided by Companies House. To fully import and indeed manage a company using Inform Direct, you will require this code.
What is the Companies House Web Authentication Code?
Inform Direct requires this code for 2 reasons:
1. As part of the setup of your account Inform Direct will pull all available information for the company in question from Companies House. To do this we need the Authentication Code.
Note: The imported company will show in your Current companies portfolio with active due dates and reminders, even withouth the authentication code added. However, the code would be required for the full data or to make filings.
2. As you make updates to your company e.g. changes to directors or shareholdings, then to communicate these changes to Companies House electronically Inform Direct requires the Authentication Code.
Companies House rightfully advise companies to be wary of sharing their authentication code. How safe is Inform Direct?
You will see that Inform Direct is shown on the Companies House website as a tested and authorised provider of CoSec and formation software.
