In order to file documents electronically at Companies House you need a valid Presenter Code.

A Presenter Code is supplied by Companies House and is actually shorthand for two separate codes:

  • the Presenter ID; and

  • the Presenter authentication code

Since you always need them both any reference to 'Presenter Code' means both the Presenter ID and the Presenter authentication code.

Will I recognise my Presenter Code?

The Presenter ID will always be 11 digits long.  e.g. 00012321000

The Presenter authentication code will also always be 11 characters long.  However it will be a mixture of upper case letters and numbers e.g. AB74C19JEXT

A word of warning

To make things simple (!) Companies have two types of Presenter Code.

  • A Presenter Code - without a credit facility.  This requires you to pay the applicable Companies House fee each time you submit a chargeable submission.

  • A Presenter Code - with a credit facility.  This allows you to file confirmation statements and form new companies without needing to pay each time you make a submission. Instead you receive a monthly statement direct from Companies House detailing all the transactions which incurred one of their filing fees in the previous month.

You should only add a Presenter Code which includes a credit facility to you Inform Direct account.

How do I add my Presenter Code?

Note: Do remember to keep your credit account with Companies House topped up otherwise submissions that attract a Companies House fee will fail!

Generally if you are going to manage more than a handful of companies it is preferable to have your own Presenter Code which includes a credit facility.

What are the benefits of having a Presenter Code?

I already have a Presenter Code

If you have your own Presenter Code (which includes a credit facility) then if you are a Subscription User you can start using them with your Inform Direct account. Please do not add a Presenter Code that does not have a credit facility.

If you have not yet upgraded to a subscription account it is easy to do so.

How do I upgrade to a subscription service?

What if I do not have a Presenter Code?

If you have not yet applied to Companies House for your own Presenter Code, you will be able to use the Inform Direct Presenter Code.  However, if the submission attracts a Companies House fee, then you will be required to pay Inform Direct the fee and we will pay Companies House.

Since Companies House have made it so simple to apply for your own Presenter Code which includes a credit facility please do apply for one.

How do I get my own Presenter Code.

What will Companies House send me once I have applied for a Presenter Code?

Note: The Presenter Code is NOT the same as the email address and password that you may have used for web filing.
