Inform Direct makes it easy to submit a change to Companies House to electronically update the Registered Office address, either using a new address or selecting an existing one from your portfolio of companies.
1. Go to the Company tab and click on the blue Edit Company Information button.
2. Change the address as required. You will have 3 options here and must select 1:
- To select your firm's office address.
- To select a previously entered address.
- or to enter a completely new address using the postcode lookup.
Once you have entered the necessary details hit the green Save changes to details button.
Note: It is not possible to input a specific date that the change became effective from - there is no provision on the AD01 form for this. Instead, the date of change for the registered office address is that date on which Companies House accept the filing.
Note: To change the situation of the registered office address of a company registered in England and Wales or Wales please use an AD05 form which can be located here.

3. Inform Direct will identify whether the address which you are changing from is used elsewhere in your portfolio of companies. It will identify exact matches and similar address, if any are located it will allow you the chance to update them all in bulk. For full details, see How to change addresses in bulk
4. Before submitting the change to Companies House you will be asked if approval is required, this allows you to create a summary document to be approved prior to sending the new address if necessary. Selecting Yes will take you through the process to create the approval document.
How do I prepare draft documents to change the Registered Office Address?
Selecting No does not create the summary document and proceeds to the next step to submit the change to Companies House.

5. When you are happy the details are correct, hit the Submit to Companies House button. This will submit form AD01 to Companies House electronically for them to review.

7. The final step will allow you to generate any necessary supporting documents - you will just need to ensure you tick the box alongside those that you require.
