The Register of Share Classes is a record of both current and historic share class.

The details should include:

  • Description e.g. Ordinary, A Ordinary etc
  • Share Class e.g. Ordinary, Deferred, Redeemable Preference etc
  • Nominal Value
  • No. of shares issued

When a company is first imported into Inform Direct the Register of Share Classes will only show the current share class or classes.  When Inform Direct is used to create any new share class (or the expiration of any existing share class) the changes will automatically show in the Register of Share Classes.

Note: To create a new share class after the date of import you should use the application. How do I create a new share class?

To add details of any share classes which existed before the company was imported into Inform Direct follow these steps:

1. Click on the green 'Add Historic Share Class' button.

2. This will bring up the below pop up box.

Note: Since the share class is no longer current the Number of shares issued is always 0.

3. Add the details of the Share Class and the Nominal Value per Share.  These will be used to create the Description - see 5 below.

4. When done click on the green 'Save changes to Register' button.

5. The details of the historic share class will then be added.

To help you find the new Share Class you will see the record marked 'RECENTLY ADDED'.  This will disappear after a while but a permanent record that the details for this share class have been added rather than imported is denoted by the little green triangle in the corner of each column.

6. If you let the cursor hover over any record which you have previously added (i.e. one with green corners) it will become highlighted and read 'Edit this record' as per the below.  If you want to edit the record simply click on it and it will take you to step 2 above.

Note: Editing the Register of Share Classes does not update any other register nor does it send any message to Companies House.

When it comes to printing the Registers any details added in the above manner will be indistinguishable from details which are automatically included when a Share Class is added using the relevant Inform Direct wizard.
