In addition to the Register of Directors a company must maintain a separate Register of Director's Residential Addresses for every individual who is currently a director. For completeness Inform Direct allows you to record the Residential address of past directors too.

Note: When you import a company into Inform Direct the Residential address for each serving director will not be returned by Companies House.

Note: To add or change the Residential address for directors who are still serving when you imported the company you should use the application. How do I add or change a director's Residential address?

To add the last known Residential address details of a director whose appointment ended prior to the date of import follow these steps:

1. Click on the green 'Add Historic Address' button.

2. This will bring up the below pop up box.

3. Populate their details accordingly. Click here for an explanation of the s.243 exemption. It is unlikely to apply so leave defaulted as 'No'.

4. When done click on the green 'Save changes to Register' button.

5. The details of the historic director and their Residential address will then be added.

To help you easily find the new record you have created you will see it marked 'RECENTLY ADDED'. This will disappear after a while but a permanent record that the Residential address details for this director have been manually added rather than applied by the system is denoted by the little green triangle in the corner of each column.  If you edit it again you will see it marked 'RECENTLY UPDATED'.

6. If you let the cursor hover over any record which you have previously added (i.e. one with green corners) it will become highlighted and read 'Edit this record' as per the below. If you want to edit the record again simply click on it and it will take you to step 2 above.

Note: Editing the Register of Director's Residential Addresses does not update any other register nor does it send any message to Companies House.
