Significant changes are fast approaching with regard to becoming an Authorised Corporate Service Provider (ACSP). As you would expect, this is something we have been closely monitoring since the concept was first announced.  See our blog What is an authorised corporate service provider (ACSP)? first published in November 2023.

Registering as an authorised corporate service provider (ACSP) is a new requirement designed to help Companies House track who is verifying the identity of individuals involved in companies and filing information on the public register. An ACSP is a type of intermediary between limited companies, LLPs, limited partnerships and Companies House.

What to expect

Based on Company House's current timelines our understanding of what to expect is as follows: Identity checks will be enforced for existing directors and PSCs in the first confirmation statement for the company from 18th November 2025.

Since April 8th companies can 'get ahead' by undertaking checks at Companies House. It is expected that these 'getting ahead' checks will result in a 'code' being generated. This 'code' can then be used to support future submissions to Companies House.' See How to add a Companies House personal code

Identity checks via Inform Direct

There will be a facility to complete the required identity checks from Inform Direct. This will be a service integrated into Inform Direct from a reputable provider in the ID and AML checking arena and will be available to accounts which are registered as an ACSP. There will be a charge for completing these checks, which will be confirmed along with the provider prior to the release of this function.

Personal codes will be mandatory as part of a company’s next confirmation statement, or any new incorporation from 18 November 2025.
