A registered email address must be recorded for all companies.
The registered email address was first introduced from March 2024. It will have been reported at incorporation for companies formed since this date and initially recorded in the first confirmation statement filed since March 2024 for existing companies.
Guidance on how to first add the registered email address prior to the first confirmation statement filing since 5 March 2024 can be found in our guide How to add a company Registered Email Address.
The guide below covers how to change a registered email address for a company which has reported one to Companies House.
1. Select Edit company information on the right of the company tab.
2. The existing registered email address will be recorded. To begin the change process, add the new email address in place of the existing one.
You will be required to tick the box which appears below, to confirm that the email address is appropriate.
3. Selecting Save changes to details at the bottom of the page will initially ask if Approval is required, then allow you to Submit to Companies House.
If this is the first change of registered email address filed via Inform Direct, the below authentication steps will be required:
4. This directs you to an Authorisation screen to allow permission for the filing at Companies House. This includes an option to copy your authentication code in preparation for the Companies
Note: The authorisation screen is unique to the update registered email address process. Companies House use a different filing method, which requires authorisation to be granted with the authentication code.
5. You will be directed to Companies House, where a sign in will be required.
Once signed in, the authentication code will be required.
Note: The authentication code must be entered in CAPITALS to be accepted by Companies House
Once the correct code is entered, authorisation can be completed via the Allow access button.
6. The process will then direct you back to Inform Direct and the update will be completed.
Supporting documents can be generated by the software as shown in the image below.
