The import process reviews Companies House data and merges records together. If there are inconsistencies in the data, a submission to Companies House will be prompted to resolve the situation.

Discrepancies identified between merged people or merged addresses may prompt a submission to Companies House when completing the import process.

The import process will always make it very clear that changes are required to be submitted by including a red Submit to Companies House button as shown below.

Individual changes:

You will see two options presented next to changes for individuals' details or residential addresses:

1. Send now:

This is selected by default and will, when selected, submit the proposed change to Companies House immediately when completing the import process.

2. Resolve later:

If selected for a change this will allow you to complete the import without immediately submitting this change. It will then create a Data discrepancy on the dashboard of the company. this option will not appear where you have made manual changes to a residential address in the addresses screen.

Registered office address, service addresses and corporate person changes:

The option to resolve later will not show where a change is identified to the registered office address or a person's service address. This is because the registered office address and all person's service addresses in Inform Direct should be the same as that held by Companies House.

In addition, you will not be able to resolve later changes identified for a corporate person's details.

Withdrawing election to hold registers at Companies House:

The example above shows that the company holds the register of directors and register of secretaries directly at Companies House. Holding the registers at Companies House heavily restricts the filings which are possible by software, including the confirmation statement if any changes take place during the confirmation period. It is therefore a requirement to Send now to complete the import.

Holding registers publicly often leads to full personal information (date of birth, residential address) being available to view via the Companies House website under the Registers tab. It is therefore usually quite a welcome chance to remove them.
