Information is often changing within a company, so where there is a change to the details of the shareholder or the company an updated share certificate may be required.
If you are yet to produce the share certificate, or wish to create a new certificate please see: How can I create a share certificate?
Share certificates can be amended in the following ways:
- Change of shareholder name
- Change of shareholder contact address
- Change of company name
- Adding the company logo
- The certificate number
- The template choice
- The holding & issue dates
Note: For changes to whether the shares are paid/unpaid it is best to cancel/delete the certificate and create a new record.
1. To begin the process of changing the certificate, please ensure the information for the company and the shareholder concerned are correct.
- How do I edit the personal details of a Shareholder
- How do I add or Change the Shareholder Contact Address
- How do I change the company name?
- How do I add the company logo?
2. Once the above change is complete you will need to locate the share certificate which needs updating. These can be found under the Shareholders tab under Maintain Share Certificates.
Here you will see all existing certificates listed.
Clicking the yellow pencil option next to the certificate you wish to update will give you the option to Edit / Regenerate.
3. Selecting the Edit/Regenerate option takes you to a screen with a summary of the share certificate information, as part of this screen you are able to adjust the Certificate issue date, Holding date, number of shares and Certificate number.
Note: If the shareholder's name or contact address do no appear as planned please cancel as you will need to edit the shareholder's personal details (see step 1 again) first before completing this process.
4. The following screen will allow you to pick from the different Share Certificate Template Choices, the option selected will become the default design for the company going forward.
5. Confirming this will complete the process and produce the updated share certificate. This removes the old version of the share certificate from the Document Library so only the new record exists.
