Inform Direct allows you to edit the Personal Details of anyone on the system.

1. First locate the individual - they will be listed under the Officers or PSCs tab.

2. Click on the yellow pencil opposite their name.

3. The option to '
Edit personal details' will appear. Click on this and all the details relating to the individual will then show. You can edit it as required.

The most common update is to the residential address of an individual, this is one of the sections within the personal details area and allows you to select Find/enter address.

This will allow you to add a new address or select Fill with:

  • A previously entered address - This searches the portfolio to find existing uses for the address, see How do I select a Previously Entered Address?
  • Or enter an address - This allows you to enter a new address, a postcode search can be completed using the Find address button.

The details of other available changes are detailed below:

The Date of Change - is self-explanatory. It will default to today's date. You can change the date but you cannot enter a future date nor can you go back in time to a date prior to the last Annual Return, confirmation statement or Date of Incorporation.

Title - If the Title is changing (e.g. Miss becoming Mrs) you must use the dropdown box to select the new title.

Forename(s) - If the Forename(s) are incorrect you can edit these directly into the text box. So in the above example if 'Peter' should read 'Peter Andrew' simply type the name Andrew after Peter. Equally if the name was showing Bob or even just 'B' and it should be Robert delete 'Bob' and type 'Robert'.

Surname - If the Forename(s) are incorrect you can edit these directly into the text box. So in the above example if the surname is not 'Whelk-Harrier' but 'White-Harrier' you can overtype the 'elk' with 'ite'

Email Address - This is optional. In a later release Inform Direct plan to give users the functionality to communicate with officers/shareholders.

Telephone - This is optional.

Date of birth - This cannot be edited. If this is incorrect please contact Inform Direct.

National insurance number - This is optional.

Nationality - If the nationality is blank or changing you must use the dropdown box to select the new nationality.

Note: Great Britain is not a nationality.

US Citizen - One day the company may find that the US Government will require disclosure of whether any shareholders are US Citizens.  If you record this information now you may save the company a big headache at some point in the future.  If you do not know the answer you can leave the box 'Unknown' checked.

Business occupation - If the Business occupation is blank or changing you can put the correct details into the text box. If there is no obvious occupation it is quite acceptable to type 'Company Director' if appropriate.

If are are happy with the changes you have made click on the green 'Save changes to details' button.

Before submitting the change to Companies House there is an opportunity to produce a summary document, this can be used to get approval before making the submission. Selecting Yes will take you through the process to create the approval document.  How do I prepare draft documents to change the details of an officer?

Selecting No does not create the summary document and proceeds to the next step below.

Note: The approval document feature is only available to subscribers to the software. What are the benefits of subscribing to Inform Direct?

Inform Direct will then update the system. If the change is correct, pressing the red 'Submit to Companies House' will file any relevant forms e.g. AP01 or AP03.
