You can use Inform Direct to incorporate a company which contains a Sensitive Name

Companies House maintains a list of 'Sensitive' or 'Restricted' words and expressions.  If you try to incorporate a company which includes a Sensitive or Restricted word in all or part of the proposed company name Inform Direct will ask you to attach evidence that you have permission from the relevant authority to use the Sensitive or Restricted name.

A full list of restricted and sensitive words can be found on the Companies House website, here. We have written some specific guides on some:

Can I use the word TRUST when forming a company?

Can I use the word COURT when forming a company?

Can I use the word FOUNDATION when forming a company?

Can I use the 'Restricted' word?

As an example, if you would like to form: My New Dental Venture Ltd then the word 'Dental' is a Restricted in this instance. Inform Direct will flag this for you.

Having entered a company name and selected your package, click the green 'Continue' button and Inform Direct will provide you will some details on the restriction and a place to upload supporting evidence if you wish to proceed.

Note: If you click 'View details' you will be advised of the supporting documentation required and the contact details of the appropriate authority.

If you have the required permission to use a Restricted word, you can attach this to your application to form the new company. Simply drag it to the area marked 'DROP FILES TO UPLOAD' or select it from your PC using the 'BROWSE' feature. This must be a PDF document.
