Our bulk upload function helps with adding members to companies Limited by Guarantee.

To assist with ensuring the upload runs smoothly, this guide provides information on the preferred format for the csv file.


The file must be a csv file and not an excel file so please ensure that you save the document as a .csv file.


During the upload mapping of data will be required from the csv file to the format we require to save the information in Inform Direct. The template csv we provide has the columns correctly split and ordered to help with this. Indeed using our template will mean that the fields are automatically mapped based on the column headers.


Please see the attached template csv document at the bottom of this article. This can be opened in excel.


The fields which are optional are:
  • Title
  • Forenames (where all members are corporates)
  • Surname (where all members are corporates)
  • Corporate name (where all members are individuals)
  • Registered number (only relevant for corporate records, but still optional in those cases)
  • Date became a member (if not mapped assumed to be the company's date of incorporation)
  • Date ceased to be a member
  • All address information can be excluded
  • Guarantee amount (only needed where a person's guarantee differs from the standard guarantee for the membership class)
  • Member certificate number (unless the member certificate issue date is added)
  • Member certificate issue date (if not mapped assumed to be the date the person became a member)
