If Companies House require an existing company to assent to the formation of a new company with a similar name Inform Direct will identify this.
Can I Use a Similar Name to an Existing Company when Forming a Company?
1. Here, the company INFORM DIRECT LIMITED already exists. We are seeking to form INFORM DIRECT & CO. LIMITED.
2. The formation software will show that the name is available but that approval is needed for the formation to be successful. Select which formation package you want. e.g. Basic
Note: There may be cases where the company name check ran by Companies House does not pick up on this and instead Companies House will advise in the form of a rejection after you have submitted the incorporation. This is unfortunately not within our control as it is Companies House which provide the name check data.
3. Once you have chosen which formation package you require, you will be asked to add the permission. Companies House will specify the name of the existing entity which must give permission.
The permission must:
- be on existing company headed paper/email; and
- state that proposed company name (quote new company name) will form part of the same group as the existing company (quote the existing company / group name); and
- state that the existing company group name (quote the existing company / group name) has no objections to the company (quote new company name) being formed.
4. To attach the permission simply drag it to the area marked 'DROP FILES TO UPLOAD' or select it from your PC using the 'BROWSE' feature.
Note: The letter of permission must be a .pdf file.
