Sometimes the existence of a PSC is suspected but the identity of that person has not been ascertained.

You would record such a person as an 'Unknown PSC' until you can confirm their identity.

1. Go to the PSCs tab and select 'Add new PSC/RLE.'

2. Select 'Unknown person' from the options presented and click the green 'Next' button.

3. Next,

  • Inform Direct will give the unknown person a PSC identifier. You can change this if you wish.
  • Add the Date the company became aware of the unknown PSC.
  • Indicate if anyone has been contacted to help identify the unknown PSC.  It defaults to 'No.' If the answer is 'Yes,' see below for additional information required.
  • Lastly, give the reason why a PSC is suspected, e.g. 'A person appears to control 60% of the shares and voting rights.'
  • Once you have finished select, 'Save' button.

Note: If you select 'Yes' signifying that someone has been contacted to help identify the unknown PSC, then you will see the following dropdown. Insert the dates required.

4. You now have the option to produce pre-populated documents according to your needs. You can also find these templates in the Template Library.

5. Before submitting the unknown PSC details to Companies House there is an opportunity to produce a summary document, this can be used to get approval before making the submission. Selecting Yes will take you through the process to create the approval document. Please see How do I prepare draft documents to add a PSC?

Selecting No does not create the summary document and proceeds to step 6 below.

Note: The approval document feature is only available to subscribers to the software. What are the benefits of subscribing to Inform Direct?

6. You are shown a summary screen of the statement that will be sent to Companies House.

Note: Once you click a red button, there is nothing that we can do until Companies House accept of reject the filing.

Note: You can choose to produce any of the supporting documents through the next screen prompt.

7. Now you can see the unknown PSC listed in your PSCs tab. The actual register will contain the required statements.
