You will still need to file a tax return to HMRC for a dormant company, unless:

  • You have contacted HMRC and they have consented that you do not need to file a tax return.

Note: You will have received a letter notifying you of HMRC's consent

Without the consent of HMRC, you will need to file a tax return, even if there has been no trading or money involved.

Note: If a tax return for a dormant company is overdue, a fine will be incurred from HMRC.

If you are unsure whether you have consent from HMRC contact them immediately.
