Failed visual analysis relates to the image of the identification uploaded when completing an identity check.

BrightChecks requests an image of identification to be uploaded as part of the process.

The document is inspected by Credas to ensure that it is a legitimate form of identification. The check will be looking at security features, the image and the reference numbers on the document.

In the event that the key document features cannot be verified, a fail result will be returned, appearing as shown below.

Common reasons for a visual analysis failure are:

  • Blurred photos - all text and features should be clearly visible
  • Scan/photocopy - it must be a photo to confirm the document is present
  • Cropped images - the whole page of the document must be visible with a small amount of background visible on all sides
  • Black & white photos - a colour image must be used to verify all features
  • A photo of a screen or of a photo - the original document must be present in the picture

Note: The best course of action if a check has failed due to visual analysis is to send a new check to the individual. Having a completed and accepted check with a valid photo of the document is safest for your records.
